D This old guitar ain't mine to keep
DGA Just taking care of it now
D It's been around for years and years
DGA Just waiting in its old case
D It's been up and down the country roads
DGA It's brought a tear and a smile
D It's seen its share of dreams and hopes
DGA And never went out of style
D The more I play it, the better it sounds
DGA It cries when I leave it alone
D Silently it waits for me
DGA Or someone else I suppose
DGA This old guitar
DGA This old guitar
DGA This old guitar
D This old guitar has caught some breaks
DGA But it never searched for gold
D It can't be blamed for my mistakes
DGA It only does what it's told
D It's been a messenger in times of trouble
DGA In times of hope and fear
D When I get drunk and seeing double
DGA It jumps behind the wheel and steers
D This old guitar ain't mine to keep
DGA It's mine to play for a while
D This old guitar ain't mine to keep
DGA
