    Tak mampu lagi berdiri
    Cahaya kasihmu menuntunku
    Kembali dalam dekapan tanganmu

I had to go back to that house one more timeTo see if the camellias were in bloomFor so many reasons its been on my mindThe house on Belmont Avenue
Built up on cinderblocks off the groundWhat with the rain and the soft swampy landBy the sweet honeysuckle that grew all aroundWere switches when we were bad
Refrain:I took a bus to Baton RougeI took a bus to Baton Rouge
All the front rooms were kept closed offI never liked to go in there muchSometimes the doors they'd be locked 'causeThere were precious things that I couldn't touch
The company couch covered in plasticLittle books about being svedThe dining room table nobody ate atThe piano nobody played
Refrain:I took a bus to Baton RougeI took a bus to Baton Rouge
There was this beautiful lamp I always lovedA seashore was painted on the shadeIt would turn around when you switched on the bulbAnd gently rock the waves
The driveway was covered withTiny white seashellsA fig tree stood in the backyardThere are other things I remember as wellBut to tell them would just be too hard
Ghosts in the wind that blow through my lifeFollow me wherever I goI'll never be free from these chains insideHiddep deep down in my soul
Refrain:I took a bus to Baton RougeI took a bus to Baton Rouge
