Jimmy Buffett/Jerry Jeff WalkerShe's a railroad ladyJust a little bit shadySpending her days on the trainShe's a semi-good lookerThe fast rails they took 'erNow she's tryin', just tryin' to get home again.
South Station on Boston to the stockyards of AustinFrom the Florida sunshine to the New Orlean's rainNow that the railpacksHas taken the best tracksShe's tryin', just tryin' to get home again.
She's a railroad ladyJust a little bit shadySpending her life on the trainsOnce a pullman car travelerNow the brakeman won't have 'erShe's tryin', just tryin' to get home again.
Once a high balling loner he thought he could own 'erHe bought her a fur and a big diamond ringShe hocked them for cold cashLeft town on the WabashNever thinking of home way back then.
But the rails are now rustyThe dining car's dustyThe gold plated watches have taken their tollThe railroads are dyingAnd the lady she's cryingOn a bus to Kentucky and home that's her goal.
She's a railroad ladyJust a little bit shakySpending her life on the trainShe's a semi-good lookerBut the fast rails the took 'erNow she' tryin', just tryin' to get home again.1973 Let There Be Music Inc. (ASCAP)Groper Music Inc. (BMI)All Rights Reserved
