Makna Lagu SAFETY - J. Cole

Makna lagu Safety dari J. Cole ini kerasa banget seperti kumpulan pesan suara dari teman-teman lamanya di kampung halaman. Mereka nanya kabar, cerita kehidupan mereka sekarang, dan yang paling terasa adalah kerinduan. Di balik kesuksesan J. Cole, ternyata masih banyak orang dekatnya yang hidup di tengah masalah, kehilangan, dan realita keras. Chorus yang nanya “kapan kamu pulang?” itu nunjukin kalau buat mereka, J. Cole bukan cuma artis besar, tapi tetap teman lama yang dirindukan.

Lagu ini juga nunjukin kontras antara hidup sukses dan kehidupan lama yang penuh struggle. Teman-temannya cerita soal masuk penjara, kehilangan orang karena narkoba dan kekerasan, sampai kabar kematian teman lain. Ini bikin kesannya sedih dan realistis, karena waktu terus jalan, tapi nggak semua orang bisa “keluar” dari lingkungan itu seperti J. Cole. Ada juga rasa bangga ke dia, tapi di saat yang sama ada jarak yang makin terasa.

Di bagian akhir, maknanya makin dalam karena nyentuh soal penyesalan dan perubahan perspektif. Ada cerita tentang teman yang dulu dijauhi karena pilihan hidupnya, tapi setelah dia meninggal, muncul rasa bersalah dan pengen minta maaf. Intinya, lagu ini bukan cuma soal pulang ke kampung, tapi soal waktu, kehilangan, dan hubungan yang berubah. Pesannya simpel tapi ngena, kadang kita baru sadar arti orang-orang lama setelah semuanya nggak bisa diulang lagi.
